What does peaberry mean? Peaberry coffee is a genetic mutation of the coffee plant that affects roughly 5% of all coffee. Instead of containing two seeds inside the coffee “cherry,” these plants only contain one seed. This results in a rounded coffee bean without the “flat side” of typical coffee beans. Peaberry coffee is characteristically a bit sweeter than typical coffee.
